Home / Projects / Dora Creek Rail Bridge Refurbishment

Doolee are performing ongoing lead-paint removal and full recoating works to Dora Creek Rail-bridge in the Central Coast. Dora Creek bridge refurbishment works form part of Sydney Trains ongoing infrastructure remediation. The bridge itself consists of 6 spans with four over water and the approach spans at either end over road.

Suspended scaffold is utilised for access and encapsulated to contain the blast media. All relevant lead management controls are implemented to avoid exposing the surrounding environment to lead dust. A high pressure-wash of the steelwork was carried out to remove any surface contaminant. Steelwork is abrasive blasted to achieve class 2 ½ and desired surface profile. A vacuum loader-system is used to collect and dispose of spent garnet, and finally a protective coating is applied prior to containment & scaffold removal. Sections of the works within ’danger-zones’ are completed within prescribed Sydney Trains weekend possession timeframes.

  • Working above water and live traffic within fully encapsulated scaffolding
  • Weekend shutdown works carried out during track possession periods
  • Existing coating comprised of lead which was managed in accordance with relevant standards
