Doolee is performing ongoing lead paint removal and full recoating works to the Dora Creek Rail Bridge on the Central Coast. The bridge refurbishment forms part of Sydney Trains’ ongoing infrastructure remediation.
The Dora Creek Rail Bridge consists of six spans, with four over water plus the approach spans at either end over road.
- Suspended scaffold is utilised for access and is encapsulated to contain the blast media.
- All relevant lead management controls are implemented to avoid exposing the surrounding environment to lead dust.
- A high-pressure wash of the steelwork removed any surface contaminant.
- Steelwork is abrasive blasted to achieve class 2 ½ and desired surface profile.
- A vacuum loader system collects and disposes of spent garnet.
- A protective coating is being applied prior to containment and scaffold removal.
Sections of the works in high-risk zones are completed within prescribed Sydney Trains weekend possession timeframes.
