Scope Inclusions
Challenges
- There was no nearby facility for concrete supply, a mobile concrete batching plant had to be set up to supply all the concrete requirements.
- There was no nearby stockpile of structural filling, so all structural filling had to be quarried and transported to site.
- The new project was in an existing mine site camp which can cause logistics issues for construction.
- The site was a brown fields site which meant all existing services had to be located and verified prior to construction.
- The flooring in the heavy weights section of the gym had multiple different set-downs in the concrete slabs to cater for a seamless floor finish between the different floor types.
Highlights
- A concrete batching plant was mobilised and commissioned to supply 440m3 of concrete for the project.
- Bulk earthworks and quarrying of 3200m3 of structural filling required wet and dry hire options across loaders, dump trucks and the mobile concrete batching plant.
- The project was completed within 6 months of mobilising to site slightly ahead of the contract programme.
